AWUSTC 2021

Open to all Teachers, Parents, and Everyone who works for/with adolescents

Dear friends,
We warmly invite you to the first Asian Upper School Teachers Conference (AWUSTC 2021), which will be held online from August 18 to 22, 2021.

Almost 30 years since the first Waldorf School was established in Asia, there are now over thirty upper schools in the region, with many schools planning to expand their lower school all the way to the upper school.

With the current world situation, we are compelled to explore how we, as teachers, can guide the adolescent to wholeness and freedom within our unique Asian culture and historical experiences; an adolescent who is spiritually able to think, feel, and will in the world with love; and one who can face the future free of the common demands and persuasions of a materialistic world.

Thus for five days, we will explore the conference’s central theme Between Form and Freedom in lectures, discussions and artistic workshops. We will refer to Rudolf Steiner’s eight lectures given to the teachers of the Stuttgart Waldorf School from June 12 – 19, 1921 published in the book Education for Adolescents. Together we will look at how we can enliven our teaching that we are able to deeply connect with adolescents and meet their inner yearning for the ideals of truth, beauty and goodness.

For registration: Sign up here
*The last day of registration is on August 9, 2021.

We are grateful for the privilege of carrying the title “Between Form and Freedom”, the selfsame title of the book on adolescent development written by master Waldorf teacher, mentor, and author Betty Staley, who will also be one of the plenary lecturers at the conference:

*Between Form and Freedom: Being a Teenager by Betty Staley

*Education for Adolescents by Rudolf Steiner E-book

We look forward to seeing you all at our conference!

Warm regards,
Tina Salazar On behalf of the Organizing Committee
