FAQ: Anthroposophy Basics

What is Anthroposophy?

The term “Anthroposophy” comes from the Greek “anthropos-sophia” or “human wisdom” or “awareness of one’s humanity’. Rudolf Steiner expanded an exacting scientific method by which one could do research for him/herself into the spiritual worlds. The investigation, known also as Spiritual Science, is an obvious complement to the natural sciences we have come to accept. It is a path that recognizes the human being is of body (willing), soul (feeling), and spirit (thinking). Through study and practiced observation, one awakens to his/her own inner nature and the spiritual realities of outer nature and the cosmos. The human being is a microcosm of the universe and the universe a macrocosm of the human being. The awareness of this relationship brings a greater reverence for all of life and a deeper understanding of our essence as human beings.
