JOHN EDWARD BARRETTO
Class 11 Santan
Filipino & Social Science Teacher

Joed joined AWS in 2018 as a substitute teacher, Filipino subject teacher in Lower School, and an Assistant Teacher for Class 1 Bahaghari.  He has been active in organizing school festivals such Buwan ng Wika and Michaelmas in the Grade School.   He now teaches Filipino language in Middle School and Upper School.  He loves to do different things and interact with people everyday, and he sees the importance of balancing learning with ingenuity, innovation, and imagination.  Ever since he met Waldorf Steiner education at AWS, he has attended all the successive Asian Teacher Trainings (ATT) and a Waldorf Teacher Training Conference in Bangkok.

Joed is a Licensed Teacher and an International Studies Program Cum Laude graduate from University of the East, Manila in 2017.  He was an active student leader and was nominated for a leadership award in his college years.  He took up Education units in Philippine Normal University and Japanese language in University of the Philippines in Diliman.  He is currently a working student of Master of Arts in Education, Major in Educational Leadership and Management at De La Salle University in Manila.

Joed grew up in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and his interests are in social sciences, culture, governance, modern trends, digital arts, and computers.  He edits videos in his free time.  He has background in performing arts, Japanese archery (Kyudo), and sailing.  His college course and work as a teacher were inspired by his parents: his father works in Immigration and his mother is a Master Social Science teacher at a Senior High School in Sta. Rosa.
