MARY DIANN ENRIQUEZ
Grade School Coordinator
Art and Movement Teacher
Dianne’s discovery of Waldorf Steiner education began when she saw an “Acacia Waldorf-Inspired School” sign one day, as she drove by AWS. She noticed that the school campus was close to her home. Shortly thereafter, she applied to teach Filipino classes at AWS, as this was the faculty opening at that time. Dianne assisted in Teacher Trina’s class, and taught Filipino and Sibika (Social Studies and Civics) in Grade School. A few years later, she had a brief stint as Main Teacher for Mirasol Class 3.
She has also taught Art and P.E. classes for Grade School and various main lesson blocks in Classes 4 – 8. On her 8th year at AWS, Dianne was invited to mentor the Art workshops for teacher trainees at Gamot Cogon Institute (GCI) in Iloilo. She assists Paul Van Meur in the Art workshops at the Asian Teacher Trainings (ATT) held each summer at AWS with Waldorf mentors from the Netherlands.
Dianne completed her Waldorf Teacher Training at Gamot Cogon Institute (GCI) on her first year of teaching at AWS. This led her into a deeper immersion in Waldorf Steiner pedagogy. She underwent various teacher trainings in Waldorf Steiner Bothmer Gymnastics with Kirsti Frahm and Michael, Clay Modelling with Hella Lowe, Asian Waldorf Teacher Conferences (AWTC) in Manila and Japan, Van James Art workshops in Iloilo and Manila, and more art and Eurythmy trainings held in the country through the years.
Dianne loves the outdoors. She grew up in Manila and moved to Laguna when she was in Upper School. She finished Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Religious Education in Don Bosco, Canlubang in 2005, and obtained her Teaching License in 2007. She was an athlete and varsity basketball player during her Upper School years, and has applied her background experiences in sports to Physical Education classes in Acacia. At a young age, Dianne already showed an inclination towards visual arts, and this was nurtured and developed in AWS. When she discovered Waldorf Steiner education, she wished that she also learned through this approach as a student.
She loves to take care of her dogs and plants, relishes cooking, and also enjoys teaching Art, P. E., Geometry and Sciences in Middle School. She is on her fourteenth year as a Teacher at AWS and is currently Main Teacher for Waling Waling class. She remains youthful and energetic because of her joy in working with young children.
