MARY JANE SALUD
Class 2 Batubalani
I am Mary Jane A. Salud, married for 22 years, a mother to three children-my first born who is now our family’s angel, my second a university student and my youngest who I home-schooled since Grade 1 and will joining the Class 4 for AWS.
I am a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary education major in Biology at Philippine Normal University -Manila. I earned my License to teach right after I graduated from PNU. I am currently enrolled in the Philippine Women’s University-Manila finishing up my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, where I have accomplished all the academic requirements and now working on my Thesis.
I had my first teaching experience in Montessori as Botany and Zoology teacher for levels 3 and 4. I have shifted my career
from education to working in the corporate world of telecommunication for almost 9 years. I re-joined the education field when I flew to Singapore to teach kindergarten and moved to the Senior Preschool teacher role for almost 11 years where I am known as Ms. Mary or Teacher Mary.
I have heard Waldorf Education Approach, in one of my Master’s degree subjects and it became one of my dream schools to teach again after my teaching career in Singapore. I have attended an Intensive Beginner’s Course in Steiner/Waldorf Early Childhood Education by Bella C. Tan and Joaquin G. Tan and 21 st Asian Teachers Training “The Detour as the Shortest Way Forward”. The uniqueness of Steiner’s approach to a child’s learning process and development with great emphasis on the threefold human being which engages the child’s head, heart and mind supports my belief in nurturing young learners.
I spend my free time reading, drawing, painting and cooking.
