KHYN YAP, RN
School Nurse
Movement and Clay Modelling

Khyn is a graduate of Nursing and Engineering Technology from Riverside College and the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas. After managing his family’s Internet Cafe business for four years, he volunteered in Camphill Carrick, Ireland, in 2013, which marked the beginning of his journey into anthroposophy. Khyn found his passion for working and living with people with special needs during his time in Ireland, inspired by his aunt with a learning disability.

As a practitioner of anthroposophic nursing, Khyn gained recognition for his work as a house coordinator and community nurse. Using his experience in low arousal approach, he managed safeguarding roles and worked with residents who had mental health issues and challenging behaviors. Khyn later studied inclusive art photography at Kilkenny Collective Arts for Talent, incorporating the skill as therapy for one of his residents.

Khyn continued his practice in therapeutic eurythmy, learning from an accomplished eurythmist in Camphill Kyle and continuing his work at Camphill Triform. His experience in therapeutic eurythmy deepened his understanding of the human body and its movement, helping him to become an expert in providing effective therapeutic tools for people with various conditions.

In 2019, Khyn moved to Triform Camphill Community in New York to study Inclusive Social Development or Social Therapy at Camphill Academy. Combining his knowledge of nursing and anthroposophy with his passion for social work, Khyn learned how to help people with special needs become more integrated into their communities.

When Khyn is not working, he enjoys weaving on a massive shuttle loom at the weavery. His love for crafts originated from his grandparents, a teacher, and a medical technologist who were pandan weavers. He also enjoys biking, walking, and bikepacking with his coffee press. Khyn loves stargazing, night walks, and visiting medieval castles when he was in Europe. His bucket list includes finishing the Camino, visiting Dornach, and playing the lyre. He is also collaborating with the anthroposophic community in the Philippines to start a community or a school for our children who need special care.

Khyn’s commitment to helping people with special needs is a testament to his compassionate and caring nature. He is passionate about making a positive difference in the world, which is evident in his dedication to his work and patients.
